Pillow Talk #2

I told you she was on a roll {my mom’s custom pillows}…

We all love her fabric – Amy Butler’s Lotus Wall Flower fabric in taupe {also an Amy Butler pattern for the 16″ square}. I have this very bolster pillow on my couch and I LOVE it. These are the only two of their kind – the 16″ square pillow sham is attached to the form, and the bolster pillow sham can be removed.

Pillow Talk #1

pillows

My mom can’t. stop. making. pillows.

After having just finished her Independent Study Bachelor’s Degree, my mom has been filling her spare time with sewing projects. And more sewing projects. Because I live so close to my mom, I have become the beneficiary to many said projects so far, and I LOVE it.

Her most recent fascination has been pillows, and I’m going to showcase one per day this weekavailable for purchase! WAIT ’til you see these!

So, without further ado, THE FIRST PILLOW!

This pillow has to be my favorite! It is so well made, and the fabric is high-quality and super smooth.

There is only ONE of these available for purchase! You can choose the sham alone, or the sham + the pillow form. Better snatch this up, before I beat you to it! {oh and just so ya know, there’s a pink one coming up too!}

More of Mom’s Pillows

My mom was also inspired by a pillow picture that I had so selfishly kept on my iPhone for about 6 months until I posted them last week. The great thing about my mom, is that she put it into action and made another one of her redonkulously {“significantly more absurd than ridiculous to an almost impossible extreme; without possibility of serious consideration” – Urban Dictionary} cute pillows. She made this for my sister Paige who LOOOOOOOVES blue.

These pillows are so cute, it made me want to buy www.momspillows.com just to make sure that we were seeing more of these little beauties! And the nice thing about her making a pillow that I had the intention of making, is that I feel *JUST AS SATISFIED* that she made it. This could be a new thing for me: put my to-do list on my blog, and when other people do them, I cross them off! Wheels spinning…

I’m Loving White Pillows

This week anyway.

www.ohbrooke.com, I'm loving white pillows

After purchasing the Ophelia Vag pillow for my new chocolate couch, I have been on the lookout for great looking white pillows. Because I’m a color and pattern-aholic, it never really occured to me to use white pillows in decorating. Even my bestie, Shannon, has had white pillows on her couch for quite sometime, but I didn’t realize the greatness until I had my own. I think I’m so impressed with the white pillows because they neutralize the room when you’re like me and have LOTS of colors. Also, they serve as new bright and refreshing focal point in a darker room.

Here are some pillows that fit the bill:

Gold Embroidered Wave pillow {Wal-Mart}

Evelyn Pristine pillow with gathers {Bliss Living}

Miki pillow cover, brown on white {Miramiki}

Silk Burnout Velvet pillow cover {Etsy}

Daisy Pillow {Paper Cloud}

Ophelia Vag pillow {Ikea}

White and Brown Woodgrain pillow {Mod Decor}

Yellow Bird pillow {Etsy}

Recovered Pillows

My mom updated her couch with a recovered set of accent pillows. She complimented her small-scale patterned couch, a blue and green ticking upholstery fabric, with a large-scale floral fabric from Amy Butler, one of my favorite fabric designers. When putting fabrics together, always consider color and scale. Two large-scale patterns would appear too busy, and two small scale patterns wouldn’t balance like these two.
