16 weeks… What I Know Now

- I didn’t appreciate that little waist when I had it. I’ll never do that again.
- My computer was buggin’ out the other day and I couldn’t figure it out. Until I noticed my gut was resting on the space bar.
- Still haven’t *tooted* in front of my husband! Is there an award for this somewhere? Can I add a badge to my sidebar because of it?
- I can feel the baby kick, and my husband felt it too. A good reminder why we’re doing this… because seeing my veins through my skin and my belly button through my shirt, are not.
- I don’t know if I’ve gained energy, or I just don’t have time to nap.
- I can cook Stroganoff, Chicken, and Spaghetti – usually, without burning it. Since I’ve been prego, I’ve been able to make new dishes, and haven’t burnt a SINGLE thing. My husband is astonished.
- My sweet hubby will make me macaroni and cheese at 9:00 at night. {Ew. I know. But sombody on TV was eating it!}
- I have the overwhelming urge to get rid of EVERYTHING in my house. Too. Much. Clutter.
- I have dreams about letters. One night it was “S”. Last night it was “T” and “C”.
- Naming a boy is infinitely harder than naming a girl.
- My hubby doesn’t know it, but I think he needed this baby to be a boy. We’re thrilled.
- Some weeks are good, some weeks aren’t. I spent most of last week uncomfortable. I wanted to take my belly off, sit in the hot tub, and take a nice long nap… on my stomach.

You are SO cute! Great hair – and I love the yellow on the crib with that fabric :O)
What is this about tooting??? Is it common for women to toot whilst pregnant??? I don’t know about this and I’ve had three kids – and I’ve NEVER tooted in front of my husband. Not even during normal times. Some things are better left a mystery, I think :O)
And I totally understand the sleeping on your belly desires. I would like to tell you that it gets better, but, my dear, sleeping only really gets worse and worse, unfortunately. During your last trimester it will become extremely difficult to get out of bed on your own, for fear that your joints will all disconnect or some other crazy thing. I always felt “backwards”, and my hip joints get crazy crazy feeling.
Okay. Now that I’ve totally freaked you out.
P.S. I am still planning on sending you something for your “shower”, but it hasn’t arrived yet :O( Boo rats boo to that, but I hope you really like it when you finally get it!
Brooke, I know exactly how you feel, three times over. :) You’re so lucky to be tall and thin. I was thin (still am, sort of) but definitely NOT tall. I am also short waisted, so my babies had no where to go but out, way out! So I was all belly very early on.
Sleeping will be a challenge for quite some time, I’m afraid. And once you get really big, around 30 weeks or so, rolling over in bed will become painful as your round ligaments work overtime trying to support your ever expanding uterus.
But hang in there because it is oh so worth it.
Ahh Brooke, you’ve made my day.
I agree, totally harder to name a boy! We even were pretty sure on Zach’s name before he was born (just wanted to wait till we saw him to be sure). We had two options for Elizabeth, and both had Elizabeth for the middle name. So we bumped it up to the first name and then had to pull a middle name out of nowhere. Still easier than thinking of a good boys name.
You daddy in law has some advise for you. Get a whoopy coushion as a decoy. Cut a hole in your bed for your belly. A sky hook for your belly so you don’t hit the spacebar or get arm extensions.after you have your baby you won’t know what to do with your hands without you belly to rest them on.
Just catching up on your blog after being away for a while. Congrats on the boy. I will definitely agree that boy names are MUCH harder than girl names.
Your post was cracking me up. May you have lots of energy and few bad weeks.
i’m so excited to follow you through all of this – you’re so brutally honest, so it’s nice to see how pregnancy really is. a little warm up for my future. :) you look great, by the way!
Yay a baby! Congrats. I love your hair too!
I have to agree with Susan–you’re going to read this post at 36 weeks and laugh. :) But, even though it does get worse, at the same time it is infinitely better, too. I can’t explain it–maybe it’s the excitement of finally meeting someone in just a few short weeks?
Keep having a great time with the pregnancy. It seems to take forever, and then all of a sudden it’s over. Bittersweet!
I’m really enjoying reading about your experiences. Thanks for being so honest :-)
This was so cute, you need to make these into a little blurb book:)
16 Weeks and you still look amazing! You are so beautiful Brookie!
