Sheet Metal and Chalk Ink
When I painted and decorated my home office, I hung a piece of galvanized sheet metal to use as a magnet board. After that project, I swiftly moved on to another, and haven’t been using it as effectively as it could be. With a little tip from my sister Shelley, I bought some chalk ink from Michael’s craft store {a little spendy at $12, but not bad with the 40% off coupon they have readily available}. Now my magnet board functions as a work board, where I can keep track of my current web design projects, and personal to-dos. The chalk ink wipes off of any non-porous surface with a wet paper towel. NOW my work board is fully functional!

Nice tip and love the board! I see me on there. :)
@Whitney – Thanks! Yep – You’re on there! ;)
Here’s the details: Sheet metal was purchased at Home Depot. This is HALF the size that it comes. My girlfriend bought the entire sheet for $14 then cut it in half with tin snips, so we each got one for $7. This would be FUN if it were the whole size. Think of the organizational possibilities! Calendar, bills, reminders…
:) I see my business card!! This is a great idea, thanks for sharing it. So simple.
Love it! I’ve never heard of chalk ink- very cool!
You “think” you’ve never heard of chalk ink, but now you’ll see it everywhere. It’s on the sandwich boards at your local deli, on the menu board at Starbucks, at Whole Foods, in Safeway, and in all the places you used to see chalk or white boards. Now it’s cool and artistic…and just as changeable.
Isn’t that Shelley the best! Full of helpful hints!
TOTALLY have to try this! Your writing is so neat! And I LOVE hand drawn frames for any occasion:)
Chalk ink? hmmmm…who knew? Sounds like this is going to be a new favorite item for me and gives me another great reason to go spend Devin’s money! Thanks!
