@John - We DEFINITELY had the World Book too... but didn't know if that was too obscure for people to remember. Guess Not!

@Jess LC - You're probably right, some of these people "fudged" their collection to get all the colors. But I'm here to tell you that my mom's collection was BONAFIDE. She didn't have any fakes, and she had lotsa colors.

I love the room with the pug, but all those perfectly colored books make me wonder... do you think they really read them or bought them for their hue?

punishment? that's really funny. i used to read the encyclopedia just for my own enjoyment when i was a kid. but we just had the world book. i could only dream of britannica! :) my four siblings, however, did not share my passion.

i like the "books arranged by color" idea. i think you are lucky to have such a creative mom.

For sure,I got tons of kidding over my book arrangement, but I never changed it! It was just more asthetically pleasing. Who knows...maybe that subtle message led to such artistic kids! Thanks for the tribute and apology(wink.) You add beauty & fun wherever you are and to everything you touch! Love you, MOM.

@whitney - going to a thrift store might not be a bad idea if you need to bulk up on books. Check out the smaller scale version of this on the cover of Readymade magazine this month: http://www.readymade.com/images/issues/AprilMay09Cover.jpg
