Birdie Baby Shower Invitations
My friend and I are throwing a baby shower for our friend Shannon. We decided on a little birdie theme for her baby boy. After having seen these adorable invitations from Jordan Ferney, I HAD to make them. These are the birdie invitations I made:

Since it was birdie themed, my sister, mom and I came up with these little wording changes:
Please help us get {mother}’s nest ready, baby {last name} is ready to hatch! -and-
A little birdie told us she was registered at…

I used:
- All white jordan almonds for the filler candy because they look like little birdie eggs. I found these at Wal-Mart in the wedding section.
- A Martha Stewart birdie hole punch to show some negative space on the outer label.
- 8 1/2″ x 11″ full-size Avery labels, and printed 5 name bands per sheet. I found these at Office Depot.
- Adobe Illustrator to layout the design.
- A corner punch to round the edges. I bought this at a craft store.
- Istock to buy the bird nest illustration and Adobe Photoshop to edit it.
And LASTLY, I now have 25 extra plain kraft jewelry boxes that I’ll sell for $12 if anyone wants to take this project on themselves!

These are adorable! And I love, love, love the idea to hole punch the bird- it looks so much more professional and fresh rather than an illustration.
I just went to Jo Ann’s yesterday afternoon with a few projects in mind and I have to say, my projects fell short of my expectations but this one inspires me to keep trying!
@ Jess – Thank you! And did you notice the great photos? ;) Thanks for the tips!
they are just beautiful brooke! love it x
These are beautiful!
These invitations are incredible! I’m throwing a baby shower for my sister in a few months so I might have to “borrow” this idea from you and Jordan – brilliant!
These came out great! If you ever want to co-brand with me, you know where I am…
I love LOVE love these!
You made my day when Jake brought me a special gift from the front porch with my name on it! It is so dang cute! I banned everyone from touching it and/or the candy!
Adorable! I am going to attempt these. What size are the boxes/measurements on the invite. I have never done anything like this, but am hosting a shower for someone as creative as you are…no pressure, right?
@Steph – The boxes were 7x5x1. I purchased them here: http://www.shoppingbagwarehouse.com/boxes_jewelry_kraft.htm. I measured the inside of the box, and took about a quarter inch off of each side.
They will look GREAT. Good luck!
[...] thinking about a bird themed shower, I just so happened to come upon the most perfect invitation during a little light blog stalking. I had to borrow OhBrooke’s text design for my [...]
SUPER CUTE.
Great design. Thanks for all the details, but I’d love to have more. What kind of printer did you use? Did you print these full blead or did you crop the invitation and labels?
I used the printer at Kinkos which prints 12×18″ paper. I was able to get 6 to a page, so I only needed to make 3 copies {cheap!}. I made the invitations pretty much to size, and cut them with a paper cutter. For the labels, I printed 5 to a sheet, and let the backgrounds bleed into each other so trimming didn’t have to be so precise. Hope that helps!
I love love love the invitations and was wondering if you took pictures of the shower decor? I’m throwing a birdie theme shower for my sister and looking for decorating ideas. Thanks!
@Melissa – You can see some pictures on these two posts:

I used a community room that we have at our condo, and I decorated using stuff I already had to make the place feel homey. I put all different kinds of pillows on the sofas. I also used the tray you see here {http://ohbrooke.com/2009/06/28/leviette-goodies-for-guests/} to put pitchers of water and OJ and cups for a drinking area.
I put out a little bird cage and little pieces of paper for people to write a wish for the mom-to-be and place it in the bird cage. I had birdy prizes {frames, candles, mini birdhouses} and had a raffle for winners.
Hope that helps! Do share pictures when your party is done!
I love your new layout! Otherwise, I might never have seen these amazing invites!!! And your new curtains look pretty and luxurious. Your baby is going to love touching them, I’ll bet :)
I am obsessed with this! I am hosting my best friend’s shower who wants a “bird theme.” The invitations are perfect! However, I am on a budget. How much would you say it cost you to make these? How did you mail them!?
@Jamie – The boxes were $31 for 50 {http://www.shoppingbagwarehouse.com/boxes_jewelry_kraft.htm}
Almonds were a little pricey, but at easter time you can use robin eggs, or you can find butter mints or something else that could be “egg” like. If you print large format at Kinkos, you can get 6 invitations per piece of paper…
Hope that helps! Good luck!
Oh, and at this size, you can just put stamps on them and mail them!
Hi Brooke,
I LOVE your invites. I’m making them for my baby shower. I ordered the boxes but just found out that due to the storm they aren’t able to ship for ten days.
I was wondering if you still have the boxes you offered for sale? I’m REALLY interested and need them ASAP.
Thank you,
Erika
I don’t suppose you still have the 25 extra plain kraft 7X5X1 jewelry boxes for sale?
@Maria – They went on to live their bridal shower invitation dreams! Sorry!
Thanks for your reply.
