If You’ve Got It – Use It!

Use your china, don\'t hide it!

Often we get nice things for wedding presents or anniversaries, etc. For example: Your China Set. Things like this end up filling up the linen closet, or tying up the extra kitchen storage. My philosophy on your nice dishes is: USE THEM! If you tuck your china away in the depths of your storage closet, you’ll never use them, and they will take up precious space for the one time every 3 years you decide to use it. If you keep it at the surface, you will be more likely to pull them out on a whim when guests pop in for dinner. So, make your nice things accessible, and make good use of them! It doesn’t make sense to keep something you don’t use, right?

I don’t have any fancy china…but I’m loving my white square dishes for company! Love the cool futons. Why weren’t any of those available when we were searching? Love the blog…cute ideas as always!

EXACTLY!!! That is always a pet peeve of mine – people saving their nice china for a special occasion! Hello — shouldn’t every day a celebration!?! I remember I bought these cute Pottery Barn sport plates and I was only using them for “big sporting events” and then I got smart! We use them every day and it is so much fun! Same with my wedding china – I just picked a very simple white choice and I used it ALL the time – but now I am sick of it (after 17 years)! Good thing I didn’t pick out expensive China ’cause I get bored with dishes real easily! I even switch out our dishes depending on the season! Drives Devin crazy but makes me so happy!

I am decorating for Emily’s birthday party and I thought about you. I grabbed my white wedding plates to write one letter on each plate (spelling Emily’s name). Do you know you can write on plates using dry erase markers? And then they wipe clean. I thought you might really like that tip!
