Another new feature from Google – “Street View.” We were all amazed by “Google Earth” where you could see an aerial view of your home or any other part of the world, but now Google is taking it to the streets. See this street in San Francisco below… you can pan left and right, move up and down the street and really see what the area is like without being there.
I think this would be a great feature for a home listing because you could get a sense of what the neighborhood might be like, the proximity of stores, police departments, gas stations, etc. Not all areas have this feature yet. I noticed my home in Sacramento isn’t available in street view yet, but I’m sure it will be shortly. Remember this when you are listing your home for sale or rent. Interested parties could ‘see’ the area before deciding to see it in person. It could definitely generate some interest!
I saw this feature when someone was looking on Trulia.com, a real estate search engine that helps you find homes for sale and provides real estate information at the local level.
